The Golden Mile & Puerto Banus
It all started here… On what’s now called the Golden Mile.
Actually, it all started in Finca Santa Margarita when the German Prince Maximilian de Hohenlohe-Langenburg and his son, Alfonso, turned Finca Santa Margarita into the modern-day Marbella Club — the Costa del Sol’s first luxury hotel. Stars like Ava Gardner, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Cary Grant and Laurence Olivier were regulars at the club and hotel. On what’s now called the Golden Mile. The late King Fahd of Saudi Arabia’s home is just a cross the street…
Marbella club is a must visit for its elegance and history and its VIP clients.
Puerto Banus
The history … Puerto Banus is a luxury marina and shopping complex built after the stars of the day flocked to Marbella in the 70s… and was designed by two famous architects: Noldi Schreck who helped design and build Beverley Hills in California, and Marcos Sainz who designed the Hotel Marbella Club.
Fast Forward to 2021. Puerto Banus today, yes right now : All God’s children are here watching and dreaming while enjoying great restaurants, luxury cars, spectacular views of the luxury boats, many amazing designer shops with designer price tags. Puerto Banus is Marbella’s MUST see day or night.
Plaza de los Naranjos
Marbella, Costa del Sol, is where most international celebrities and royalty and wannabes hide in summer, sunbathing out in private villas and exclusive five-star hotels and beach clubs. But Marbella is also the TOP destination of families, golfers, romantic couples… from all over the world. Plaza de los Naranjos, Marbella Old Town (Casco antiguo de Marbella) located right in the middle of Marbella Old Town and surrounded with amazing Castilian Renaissance architecture, is one of the liveliest areas of Marbella. This is the BEST place to explore local gastronomic delights.
The Seafront – Marbella’s Paseo Maritimo (promenade) follows the city’s beautiful coast line for six kilometers. A beautiful white marble pathway stretches along two kilometers of it (Avenida del Mar) and visitors and local & international residents can be found all year round strolling along this ‘Ocean Avenue’ enjoying the views and the fresh, healing Mediterranean air. (temperatures here rarely fall below 15º!) The promenade is a perfect place to cycle, run, practice exercise on one of the work-out machines provided by the local government and is also home to charming restaurants, bars, kiosks, and even a Cine Sur cinema.
