Driving in Marbella, Costa del Sol, Spain
Rent your dream car on vacation and enjoy driving in the Costa del Sol.
If you are from outside the EU you can drive on a valid international driving licence during your vacation.
What documents must you have with you at all times?
Your passport, your current driving licence, valid insurance and vehicle registration document.
Note : the minimum age for driving in Spain is 18.
In Spain, we drive on the right, safety belts are mandatory for all the occupants of the vehicle and there are speed limits on all roads. These are 120 km/h on dual carriageways and motorways, 90 km/h on all other roads and 30 km/h in built-up areas.
Please contact the Spanish Embassy or Consulate to verify these requirements before you start your trip.
Sit left, drive right
Like most of continental Europe, in Spain, the driver sits on the left and people drive on the right.
If you’re in the driving seat, it’s against the law to operate your mobile phone.
In Spain, you give way to traffic on the left.
